Social Cohesion Days

Social Cohesion Days is an International Festival started in 2014, which aims to raise awareness on the relevance of social cohesion issues to promote human progress and a sustainable development, through institutional and civil debates. The Festival is an opportunity for mutual learning and understanding of policies, ideas, experiences, projects, researches among different actors: policy makers, institutions, civil society, experts, researchers, third sector organizations, citizens and more.

The second edition of the festival was held from the 26th to 28th of May 2016 in Reggio Emilia and gathered over 70 speakers from the research community, public authorities and civil society organizations.
About 3.000 visitors attended 17 events, including many students, on current social topics of national importance such as migration, citizenship policies for second generations, media education, innovation and quality in ECE services, reconciliation policies for family welfare, social communication, minimum income, attendance allowance.

On the opening day of the Festival was launched the first analytical work produced by the International Observatory for Social Cohesion and Inclusion (OCIS), titled: “Measuring social cohesion: a comparison of Italian regions”. The research is currently available only in Italian at the following link http://www.socialcohesiondays.com/osservatorio/social-cohesion-paper-misurare-la-coesione-sociale-comparazione-le-regioni-italiane/

This year again, the Festival aimed to promote a shared consideration on modern society needs and policies. Therefore, the 2016 opening theme was “The Politics of Happiness” to remind us that the welfare state is something that should be designed with foresight and attention by all social entities within societies. In addition, the program was strengthened by plays, concerts and screening of documentaries that involved audiences.
Furthermore, the Social Cohesion Days Festival 2016 was an opportunity to present a selection of concrete experiences on social cohesion in Italy: there are around 60 projects in total, ranging from the vulnerable groups protection to innovative ways for community needs and the provision of welfare services, to the promotion of intercultural dialogue and the reception of refugees. The goal was to start an incubation process of social cohesion projects, connecting the protagonists of the experiences and developing sustainable and innovative ideas.

As in the first edition, the communication campaign reached 2 million views online, and its goal was to raise public awareness on the importance of social cohesion for collective welfare. In particular, one of the most effective communication means were the 21 video interviews to the main speakers of the Festival, which are available in the video section on www.socialcohesiondays.com or on the Festival YouTube channel. Some of the main speakers are Romano Prodi, François Bourguignon, Luigi Bobba, Francesca Puglisi, Benjamin Radcliff, Alexander Pacek, Ferruccio De Bortoli, Gad Lerner, Riccardo Iacona, Lorella Zanardo, Nina Daita, Marco Ghersevich, Alessandro Leogrande and Alaa Arsheed.

Pronto Serenità Project

Prontoserenità® project was dasigned from the study and research on the role of private actors within the subsidiarity field, based on the organization of a Social Advisor for the promotion and coordination of solidarity networks, and was implemented in collaboration with CERGAS - Bocconi University. The aim of the project is to achieve, through one or more networks of providers, the most complete network of services and offer to families coherent, effective and economically sustainable responses, in relation to the evolution of health and care needs of the fragile person. In particular, Prontoserenità® project searches needs, setting up and coordinating a territorial network of operators, even mixed together, who can offer qualified expertise and suitable services to satisfy many different care profiles. As a result of doing so, Prontoserenità® model is able to guarantee the continuity of the assistance services to families, in line with the needs expressed by the fragile subject, allowing them to report and offer new services that might need a care intensity upgrading over time. Prontoserenità® develops and manages assistance procedures following an approach based on the innovation and facilitation of the relationship between public planning and private provision, and on the coordination and integration between public and private resources and expertise.

Work notebook “La dote e la rete”

Easy Care Foundation gained a lot of experience from Prontoserenità® model and became aware of the need to analyze and propose innovative solutions to face the ongoing social and demographic changes, following the resizing and weakening of the welfare state response.
Since 2015 the research and study activities of the Foundation have been focused on standards and services designed to face specific needs, which nowadays are used inaccurately to give answers that in most cases are insufficient and inappropriate.
The work notebook “La dote e la rete” designed with the Technical Scientific Committee, represents a reflection path about some measures, in particular on the cash allowance, which nowadays account a large part of the public resources available.
The notebook contains insights on inefficiencies and inadequacies of the current system, together with a proposal of innovation focused on the principles of subsidiarity and the development of unexpressed potential from the public-private integration.
